Living Well With Dementia

Living Well With Dementia

Come along for a fun afternoon and some light refreshments in the Great Conservatory, Syon Park!

As part of Dementia Action Week 2025, this event offers an engaging mix of activities, informative talks, and opportunities to connect with everyone interested in learning more about dementia.

One in four people in the UK may experience dementia at some point in their lives and more than 2,000 people in Hounslow now have the illness. However, dementia doesn’t affect just the person with the diagnosis but also their family, friends, carers and the entire community. Dementia affects everyone in a profound way, from the emotional toll on loved ones to the difficulties with daily activities like shopping or using public services.

This community event brings together people living with dementia, their caregivers, professionals, and anyone keen to learn more about this condition. Whether you are seeking support hoping to make connections, or simply want to be part of an empowering community conversation, you are warmly invited.

The picturesque Great Conservatory and surrounding gardens will host a variety of free sessions and activities, such as:

• Interactive workshops on caregiving, wellbeing, and promoting independence.

• Expert talks covering safeguarding, dementia and legal rights, and pathways to local support.

• The launch of Hounslow’s new Dementia Directory – a valuable resource for families and professionals.

• Soothing Namaste sessions, featuring hand massages, gentle movement, and calming sounds.

• A captivating performance by the Hounslow Symphony Orchestra.

Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to engage directly with professionals, including healthcare providers and legal experts ready to offer personalised advice and support.

Organisations collaborating in this year’s Dementia Action Week include: Alzheimer’s Society, Garner and Hancock, Age UK, Hounslow Council Enhanced Dementia Care Service, West London NHS Trust, Lampton Leisure, Visiting Angels and Care UK.

Entry is Free.

There will also be free car parking and light refreshments.
